Sustainability

Electronics reuse, circular economy thinking and WEEE awareness. Written without figures TAR cannot evidence, and without pretending recycling is the goal.

The TAR asset renewal loopA closed five-stage loop showing how technology assets move through TAR: source, evaluate, renew, remarket and recover. Each stage carries its own glyph and the loop returns to the beginning, showing equipment kept in use rather than discarded. SOURCEEVALUATERENEWREMARKETRECOVERTARASSET RENEWAL

The uncomfortable fact about recycling

Recycling a working computer is an environmental failure dressed as an environmental action. Almost all of the resource cost of a device is spent before it is switched on for the first time. Recovering the metal afterwards returns a fraction of that and discards the rest.

Which is why, at TAR, recycling is the last option rather than the headline one.

What circularity means for hardware

Keeping equipment, components and materials in use for as long as they are genuinely useful. In IT that means a strict order: whole-unit reuse, then component reuse, then material recovery — and never skipping a stage because it is quicker.

Put it into practice

Reading about it is one thing.

If any of this applies to equipment you are holding right now, send a list and get a straight answer.
